My summer working at Cedar Point!

OK! Blogger's finally working.... Hi everyone! The purpose of this blog is to document my summer working for Cedar Point. I moved 1000 from Kansas to work at the theme park & resort in Sandusky, Ohio. In case some of you don't know, Cedar Point holds the record for the most rollercoasters in one amusement park, 16. It also is home to the tallest, fastest, and most expensive non-operating rollercoaster :), the Top Thrill Dragster. It goes 0-120 miles per hour in 4 secs, and it is 120 ft high. Cedar Point spent upwards of $25 million dollars on this and it opened May 5, 2003. It's one of the only two rollercoasters with a completely vertical hill. They've also got alot of other record breakers too. Unfortunately, they've had so much trouble that most of the time it is shut down, (for weeks), and if it doesn't reopen by July 4th weekend, they are going to shut it down for the season.
Being a rollercoaster fanatic, of course, I decided the best place to jump out of the nest after I graduated was this park. Like everything else in my life, my hopes were too high, and i'm getting a dose of what life is like. No money, awful hours, crappy dorm room, and no knowing anyone. I'm only 17, but I turn 18 July 11th. Yay me! I hate writing in journals. I'm left handed so that lead.. *eh-hem*, excuse me... GRAPHITE gets all over my hand. I also want kind of a dream log so I can remember all these weird dreams i've been having. Ever since I got to Ohio, i've had the weirdest dreams... but they all seem to mean something... well most of them. Just remember, since your reading my journal, you have to keep it a secret! :) j/k!
Okay, before I can tell you about the "now", I have to recap on my summer so far. A week after I graduated, I drove up from Kansas. It was a 17 hour drive that lasted two days. I stayed in one of the best Motel 6's ever! (Who knew they could be so great?) The Motel 6 in Cloverdale, IN is one i'm definately going to stay in on my way back. Anyway, I got to Ohio not knowing anybody, and in a very weird environment.
When I walked into this horrible run-down dorm room, one of my roomates, (who I did not know), pulled a blanket over their head. I found that as a sign to leave.... For the next few days, I never ever saw my roomates. They left before I woke, and came home after I went to sleep. I played my little detective game and went around finding clues of what my roomates must be like. I soon found out my roomates were Justin, who was getting ready to graduate and only working weekends, and Francis, born in Peru but is attending a college in West Virginia.
After my first week there, I finally started talking to my roomate Francis, who talked like he had been in the U.S. all of his life. Over the following week we became really good friends. I finally knew someone in Ohio. Justin only worked weekends so I never saw him. I taught Francis grocery shopping belonged in a Sav-a-Lot, and not a CVS! Francis showed me around and got me introduced to some people. Of course, one weekend after Justin left for school, Francis was called by the "wonderful" Cedar Point human resources. They told him that he had a week left at Cedar Point because his papers were forged. (Of course they weren't.) We went around trying to find help, but nobody at Cedar Point would talk to us. I told him just to go to work and we would go to Human Resources in the morning.
When I came home for my break, I saw Francis sitting on the bed. He told me that they forced him to sign a voluntary resignation form and that he had to be out of Cedar Point housing and back in West Virginia in 24 hours or he would be arrested. I was shocked. I had just gotten there, and already drama was unfolding. Needless to say, I took him to the airport in Cleveland the next morning and he caught his flight. It's hard saying goodbye to friends that you know you're never going to see again... oh well.... one of the hazards you have to face!
Okay, so after he left, I went to my job as usual, and got to be pretty good friends with Justin. I realized how hard it is to really make friends. To make a long period short.... I met a great person that I became friends with and he wanted to move in since we had an extra bed, and I had a clean room. (He was miserable with his old roomate) He brought his other "good" roomate with him and since then it's been pretty good. We noticed a couple nights ago that all of Justin's stuff was gone and he has left Cedar Point. :( Oh well. OK... now on to the recent stuff about today....

Okay... let's start with my weird dream last night. **I'm warning you! My dreams are really weird! You can't judge ME! Okay... maybe you can...** I'm Stimpy, from the Ren and Stimpy show, and i'm in a diving competition. There are two other competitors: one being this girl I met from games named Elizabeth (who is the antagonist in this dream), and the other being someone I don't really remember. In the diving competition we can only do three dives. The girls do their first dive and they are awful! The like jump off of the diving board and spin sideways, but the diving announcer guy says they are doing the best dives he's ever seen and that they were the world's best, the judges gave them 9.8's. When my turn came, I was a really fat cartoon cat and I tried really hard to do something cool. On my 1st and 2nd dive I couldn't do anything but bellyflops no matter how hard I tried. For my last dive I did a perfect swan dive and twisted at the end and my score was perfect... but I still lost. That dream wasn't too dreadfully important, but just weird.
Now let's start with my day. I work in the Colliseum, (it's the main arcade at Cedar Point.) By talking to a co-worker I found out that the people I went bowling with Thursday, and who I thought I could become friends with didn't like me very much. I guess I didn't talk very much... I KNOW IT'S NOT GRADE SCHOOL! But I don't like them either now... so there! lol That put a damper on my day. I feel like no matter how hard I work to enjoy this summer and make friends, i'm just back pedaling. But not all is gloomy, my mom e-mailed me and said she would help take care of my bills in Kansas so I wouldn't be in a bind and could enjoy my birthday. That made me happy! (I've noticed tonight that i'm writing like a retard!) I'm thinking of going to Six Flags Great America in Cleveland for my birthday... that would be interesting. Another day in my life... isn't it interesting! :)
